JTS Emerging Jeweller Scholarship
Talent should not be limited by circumstance.
Jewellery Training Solutions believes that talent, determination and a willingness to learn should matter more than where someone lives or whether they can afford access to professional training.
The JTS Emerging Jeweller Scholarship has been created to support talented and committed emerging jewellers who have the potential to develop their skills but who face genuine financial or geographical barriers to professional jewellery training.
The scholarship provides selected recipients with structured access to JTS training and guidance, helping them develop sound bench skills, professional working practices and the confidence to continue their journey in jewellery.
What the Scholarship Provides
Successful applicants will receive:
12 months access to the JTS Advanced Training Program
The Advanced pathway provides structured practical training designed to progressively develop jewellery-making and bench skills.
Rather than simply providing access to hundreds of individual lessons, the scholarship is intended to give recipients a clear learning pathway that they can work through progressively.
Recipients will also receive:
Digital copies of The Professional Jeweller Series
Access to selected additional JTS training resources where appropriate to their development
Periodic guidance and mentoring from Peter Keep
The opportunity to have their progress and work featured through Jewellery Training Solutions
Where appropriate, additional Professional or Pro Plus training may be made available to an individual scholar as their skills develop.
Who Can Apply?
The scholarship is open internationally.
We particularly encourage applications from people who:
Have a genuine interest in developing professional jewellery-making skills
Demonstrate creativity, commitment and potential
Have limited access to formal jewellery training
Face financial circumstances that make professional training difficult to access
Are prepared to commit time to structured learning and practical bench work
Applicants do not need to already be highly skilled jewellers.
Potential, commitment and willingness to learn are just as important as existing ability.
What We Are Looking For
Scholarships will be awarded based on a combination of:
Potential
Evidence of creativity, practical ability or a genuine aptitude for jewellery making.
Commitment
A demonstrated willingness to practise, learn and develop.
Financial or geographical need
Applicants should explain why access to professional jewellery training would otherwise be difficult.
Purpose
We want to understand what jewellery means to you and what you hope to achieve through the opportunity.
Your Starting Point Does Not Matter
Applicants may already be producing jewellery, may be teaching themselves at home, or may only be at the beginning of their jewellery journey.
We are not necessarily looking for the person producing the most impressive jewellery today.
We are looking for someone with the potential and determination to develop when given the right opportunity.
Sharing the Journey
With the recipient's permission, JTS may occasionally share their progress, bench work and achievements.
The purpose is not to turn scholarship recipients into advertising.
It is to demonstrate what can happen when someone with talent and determination is given access to good training and an opportunity to develop.
Participation in promotional material will never be a condition of receiving the scholarship.
A Message from Peter Keep
After more than 50 years at the bench, one of the things I value most is passing practical jewellery knowledge on to the next generation.
Through JTS I have been fortunate to teach jewellers and students throughout the world.
But I also recognise that access to good training is not equal.
There are talented people who simply do not have access to a jewellery school, an experienced teacher or the financial resources required to obtain professional training.
The JTS Emerging Jeweller Scholarship is a small way of helping change that.
I am not necessarily looking for the most accomplished applicant.
I am looking for potential, determination and someone who will make the most of the opportunity.
Succesful applicants can also progress;
“JTS Scholarship Graduate Award”
Stage 1 — Advanced membership for 12 months
This is the structured training component.
Stage 2 — Selected Professional training
Unlocked where you think it benefits that particular student.
Stage 3 — Pro Plus recognition
Perhaps your strongest scholarship graduates receive 6 or 12 months Pro Plus afterwards as a continuation award.
