Jewellery Training Solutions (JTS) is an online jewellery school created for people who want to learn authentic, professional jewellery-making skills.
Whether you are starting from scratch, working towards a career at the bench, or are already a jeweller wanting to develop advanced fabrication or stone-setting skills, JTS allows you to follow a training pathway that suits your experience and goals.

The Advanced program follows the structured JTS Ten Stage Training Program, developed from traditional jewellery apprenticeship training.

For experienced students, working jewellers and professionals who want to expand their technical knowledge.
Professional courses explore more specialised manufacturing methods, commercial jewellery construction and advanced bench techniques.

Jewellery making is a practical skill.
That is why JTS lessons concentrate on showing you exactly what is happening at the bench.
The camera focuses on the work rather than the instructor, allowing you to clearly see the tools, hand positions and techniques involved.
Lessons may include:

• Jewellery projects and exercises
• Technical explanations
• Formulas and reference information
• Downloadable handouts

You can pause, rewind and watch demonstrations as many times as you need.
Many courses are complete projects, allowing you to see the entire manufacturing process from beginning to finished piece.
There are no classrooms to attend and no deadlines unless you choose to follow a structured training pathway.
You can study whenever it suits you and return to techniques whenever you need a refresher.
Your progress is remembered by the learning platform, so you can continue from where you left off.

There are two main ways to access JTS training.

Your membership gives you access to the courses included within that level for as long as your subscription remains active.
There is no lock-in contract, and memberships can be cancelled.

Don't need a membership?
Many JTS courses can also be purchased individually.
This is ideal if you simply want to learn a particular technique or complete a specific project.
Purchased courses remain available in your student account.
For students who want more than individual projects, the JTS Ten Stage Training Program provides a structured pathway through increasingly advanced jewellery-making skills.
The program is based on the practical training methods traditionally used to develop jewellery apprentices.
Rather than learning techniques randomly, projects introduce new skills progressively.
As you work through the stages you develop experience in areas such as:
• Saw piercing and accurate marking
• Filing and fitting
• Soldering
• Forming and forging
• Jewellery construction
• Commercial ring manufacture
• Stone setting
• Finishing and problem solving
You don't necessarily need to complete every project.
Some projects develop similar competencies, so students can select projects while still building a broad range of practical skills.
Students participating in the structured JTS training pathway can submit completed projects for assessment.
When you have completed the required work for a stage, you can send photographs of your jewellery for review.
Your work is assessed against the expected standard and feedback can be provided before progressing.
Students who successfully demonstrate the required skills can receive a JTS Stage Merit Certificate recognising their achievement.
These are JTS training certificates and should not be confused with an Australian nationally accredited trade qualification.
JTS training can, however, provide valuable practical training and evidence of skills for students exploring formal recognition through an independent Registered Training Organisation.
Not everyone wants to become a professional jeweller.
That's perfectly fine.
You can simply explore the JTS library and choose projects or techniques that interest you.
Follow the structured pathway, create your own learning pathway, or simply enjoy making jewellery.
There is no pressure to keep up with anyone else.
You don't need a commercial jewellery workshop to begin.
Many Beginner projects can be completed with a relatively modest collection of jewellery tools.
As your skills develop, particularly through the Advanced and Professional programs, you will naturally require a more comprehensive workshop.
Course pages identify the main tools and materials required before you begin.
JTS also supplies selected jewellery tools, student training packs, setting blanks and stones through the JTS Shop.
JTS founder Peter Keep is a Master Jeweller, qualified teacher and former WorldSkills trainer with decades of jewellery-making and teaching experience.
The first JTS training courses were developed in Western Australia in 2007 to help jewellery apprentices in remote areas who could not regularly attend face-to-face classes.
The concept worked.
Students were able to watch professional techniques repeatedly at their own workbench and then apply what they had learned to practical projects.
That original apprenticeship training system gradually developed into Jewellery Training Solutions.
Today, JTS is used by jewellery students, apprentices, schools, workshops and professional jewellers around the world.
The philosophy, however, remains the same:
Show the technique clearly.
Explain why it works.
Then let the student develop the skill through practice.
Online training shouldn't mean learning alone.
