In this three part video series you will learn how to draw a Tourmaline dress ring to scale in three views.
You will then be guided through a simple process on how to bring the drawing to life by rendering with gouache and watercolour paints.
The series has been broken down into three parts.
Video 1- How to draw a tourmaline ring in three views.
Video 2- How to paint yellow gold swatches.
Video 3- How to render the ring in yellow gold and how to render the pink tourmaline.
I have also provided a PDF template of the ring line drawing for those that need a bit more guidance with the process.
This series is great for all skill levels. The videos are easy to follow with step by step voiceover and subtitled instructions.
-2H lead pencil (standard pencil or mechanical pencil)
-Eraser/ Kneadable eraser
-Clear/ see through ruler
-2 x 45 degree rulers
-Two water pots. (One for cleaning the brushes in and the other to add clean water to paints)
-Tissue/ paper towel
-Plastic or ceramic plate to mix paints on
-Grey scale paper (I use liviano colour card A4smooth surface 180gsm) You can use any toned watercolour paper. It’s easier to render on grey scale paper and it helps make the colours pop and diamonds easier to paint. Another brand I use is Canson Mi Teintes Pastel Paper grey tones.
-Brushes- size 0 or 00, size 1 or 2 natural hair round brushes.
-Grey watercolour (multicolour watercolour palettes-Koh-I-Noor brand.)
