Four Claw Double Bezel Setting
I liked this lesson because it demonstrated yet another way to make a basket setting. One difference in this procedure is the construction of the join between the prongs and the bearing (bezel). Rather than notch the bearing, this method puts the notch in the prong. Also, the lower bezel is on the outside of the prongs, rather than on the inside of the basket formed by the prongs. I would like to try this method to make a setting for an oval stone, with the two prongs on either side of the oval. I think it will work out the same, except the angle between the two straight pieces of wire at the beginning will be closer to 30 or 40 degrees rather than 90 degrees in the perfectly symmetrical round-stone setting. I would suggest showing the actual setting of the stone. If the upper bearing is too small, the stone won't go in, if too large, the prongs won't touch the waist of the stone.
