In the rendering of coloured gemstones for beginners course, you will learn how to paint oval and round cabochon gemstones both translucent and opaque in a rainbow of colours.
This course has been broken down into two videos with each one being a different cut gemstone.
I have created this course for beginners with both easy to follow step by step voiceover and subtitled instructions and painted with inexpensive watercolours to reduce costs.
Materials needed:
(all materials are shown in the free video titled “materials” in the free introduction video package)
-Gemstone templates (PDF attachment created)
-2H lead pencil (standard pencil or mechanical pencil
-Eraser/ kneadable rubber
-two water pots
-Tissue/ Paper towel
-grey scale paper. (I use Liviano colour card A4 smooth surface 180gsm) You can use any watercolour paper just make sure it is light grey toned and not white. Colours tend to pop off the page with grey toned. Another brand I use is Canson Mi Teintes Pastel paper.
-Brushes- size 0 or 00, size 1 or 2 natural hair round brushes. I use winsor and newton cotmans round brushes. (Use what your are comfortable with. Natural hair brushes tend to be better for watercolour paints rather than synthetic hair.) If you are not sure just ask your art store for watercolour brushes and they will help you find the right ones.
-Watercolour paints - Brand - Koh-l-Noor water colour discs. (There are other brands that look the same that will work as well) (Please watch the free video “materials“ in the “introduction to drawing and rendering” free series, as they are shown there)
Winsor and Newton Designers Gouache Paints:
